If the campaign does not meet its original sales goal but is still profitable once the campaign runs out of time, Teespring will still produce the products for that campaign and count it as a success. In this case, you will be charged and receive your order as usual. If the campaign does not reach its sales goal and is not profitable, you will not be charged and Teespring will cancel the payment authorization within 24 hours of the end of the campaign.

The “Verified Donation” badge declares that the seller has opted to donate all profits to a qualified 501c3 non-profit charity group or organization. In this case, Teespring verifies the charity and all profits are sent directly to the charity and NOT to the individual. The profit is calculated as the selling price minus the cost of the shirt. Shirt cost varies based on quality, volume, style, and print colors.

You can run your campaign for 3-21 days. If your t-shirts are for an event, remember to have your campaign end 14 days before the event to leave time for your shirts to be printed and delivered!

Teespring makes a flat fee per t-shirt you sell, which is included in the quoted base price you see while designing your item. We do not take a percentage of your profit margin.

Once your campaign has ended successfully and the shirts have been delivered, you will have the option to receive your campaign’s profit via mailed check or Paypal. If you’re participating in a “Verified Donation” fundraiser for an organization, the profit will be paid directly to that organization.

You are required by law to fill out a 1099 form if you receive more than $600 in profits from Teespring. If you’re participating in a fundraiser for an organization, they handle the tax implications of your donation.

If you do not reach your sales goal by the end of your campaign but your campaign is still profitable at the number of items sold, Teespring will automatically drop the sales goal and end the campaign successfully. In this case, your buyers will be charged and the items still printed. If your campaign is unprofitable once it ends, the buyers will not be charged and the items not printed. You can try again by relaunching your campaign from your dashboard or, if your campaign receives 15+ reservation requests after the campaign has ended, your campaign will automatically relaunch!

    Intellectual Property

Intellectual property rights protect individuals from the unauthorized use of his or her unique expression. When designing a Teespring campaign, you must either use original designs or designs with explicit authorization for use. Teespring does not endorse the use of stolen material, and will immediately shut down any campaign that infringes on Intellectual Property rights.

Often, allegations of infringement concern logos and images associated with professional sports teams, major brands, televisions shows, movies, and musical groups.

While there are different ways to go about protecting your unique design or innovation, most often one would file for Intellectual Property which include patents, copyrights, industrial designs, trademarks, trade dresses, among others. Copyrights and trademarks are generally most relevant to protecting personal designs, artwork, or representative images. Copyrights can prohibit others from using or distributing novel and unique expressions, and registered trademarks can prohibit others from using unique phrases, symbols, and designs as a means for distinction between brands.

For example, Teespring® is our federally registered trademark and is protected by the trademark laws of the United States. Our Teespring logo - the unique, fanciful expression of a spring - is protected by both copyright and trademark laws.

In accordance with the standards of the United States Department of Commerce (DOC), designs must be “sufficiently original” to be eligible for copyright, and “sufficiently distinguishable” to be eligible for trademark protection. Designs created on Teespring and used in e-commerce are eligible to file and are subject to the discretion of the US DOC.

Copyright or trademark rights, once established, may prohibit others from duplicating your work in its exact, substantially similar (copyright) or confusingly similar (trademark) form and selling it as their own, or reproducing it for commercial use in another medium.

That’s totally fine! You should have written documentation from the intellectual property owner prior to launching your campaign. Teespring may also request that you provide us that documentation at support@teespring.com prior to launching or continuing your campaign.

    Design & Use

It depends! We are all inspired by things that we have seen before. To use the exact copy of someone else’s work, you must acquire written authorization from the owner of the design before using it. Alternatively, you can create a new, inspired design but it must include sufficient alteration as to not be substantially similar to the original design.

Using others’ designs as your own may result in an allegation of infringement, the cancellation of your campaign, and potential suspension or deletion of your Teespring account.

No. It belongs to us. The provided artwork is available for use in your Teespring campaign only. The good news: use it for as many campaigns as you’d like!

If one of our designers helps you construct an entirely new design, then Teespring will not claim any rights to it. Hooray! However, we do not ensure that the resulting design is free from an allegation infringement asserted by a third party.

If one of our in-house designers creates artwork for you using content from our own image library, then Teespring will own that design.

It’s important to note that a similar design is not the same as a duplicate design. Let’s say you create a design with a football player throwing a ball, and someone else uses the same image but changes the color of the jersey, and the position of all the player’s limbs. The new image may be different enough to no longer be protected by the copyright of the original image.

    Complaints

If you believe someone is using your design as his or her own, and have sufficient evidence to show that it infringes upon your intellectual property rights, please follow the instructions set forth in the Terms of Service.

Please understand that Teespring is not in a position to adjudicate disputes. In cases of an alleged infringement, in our sole discretion, we may take down the campaign and refund all buyers, provided that you present the information requested in the section entitled Complaint Policy.

It depends the nature of the request. If we receive a request with sufficient evidence of intellectual property ownership coupled with a colorable claim of infringement that includes the information required under our Complaint Policy, we’ll request that you resolve the matter with the complaining party. If you don’t, or a resolution is not achieved, we reserve the right to terminate the infringing campaign and notify the campaign creator.

Users who are the targets of multiple allegations of infringement made against them run the risk of getting banned from the site. As long as you stick to original designs, you’ll likely avoid copyright or intellectual property issues.
