Another in our series of the United States Air Forces greatest hits.
In 1903 Wilburn Wright started this whole airplane and speed record thing with his first one of 6.82 mph in the original Wright Flyer.
Two years later he broke his own record in the Wright Flyer 3 by speeding along at a 37.85 mph clip.
But nothing can compare to the 2,193.2 mph record set by the Blackbird in 1976. Forty years ago.
Another tribute to the folks who designed, manufactured, maintained and flew this incredible flying mechanical marvel.
