One World Conservation picked up the Free Lucky campaign in 2008, after the death of the San Antonio Zoo’s African elephant, Alport, left Lucky alone in an exhibit that has never met her needs as a species. Now six years later and the death of Boo, another elephant brought in, Lucky is alone again, and the zoo has been ranked the #1 worst zoo for elephants four years, making it on other lists as well for the squalor conditions in Lucky’s exhibit.
