Teespring has helped creators sell over 25 million products in more than 80 countries. We’re looking for an engineering manager to lead the development of our fastest growing area: third party distribution channels. These channels connect Teespring’s unique merchandise with buyers outside the Teespring marketplace. As an engineering manager, you will drive the delivery of new features which further capitalise on these channels. This includes recruiting new engineers onto your teams, collaborating on complex technical systems with stakeholders inside and outside the company, guiding the teams towards successful architectural decisions, and championing modern software engineering practices.

What You'll Do

Engineering managers at Teespring work closely with their product manager counterparts to build ambitious yet attainable technical roadmaps. We view the role as supporting the engineers, rather than the other way around. You are responsible for ensuring engineers are not blocked from doing excellent work, or that such blockers are resolved as quickly as possible. You are expected to set a leading example to your team-mates and peers in the company with how you approach the company's mission and translate that mission into a tangible roadmap. With your cross-cutting view across the organisation, we look to you to identify opportunities for collaboration and advocate for the long-term health of our technology and the business.

As an engineering manager for the Channels teams, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has 2-5 years of senior leadership or engineering management experience
  • Demonstrates a track record of hiring fantastic engineers
  • Can show that they have helped push and guide the personal and career development of team-mates and peers
  • Can motivate and inspire engineers towards a shared goal
  • Has strong opinions about software development methodology, and explain why and in what situations particular methods are effective
  • Strong technical background: must be able to understand and explain complex concepts to non-technical colleagues; must be able to foster architectural discussions and tie-break when necessary
