What is the One Journey Festival?
One Journey was founded in 2017 by two American immigrants who wanted to share with others the positive, welcoming reception they received as newcomers. They have assembled a team of grassroots volunteers that includes nonprofit gurus, industry stalwarts, and metro DCists, many of whom were refugees themselves. One Journey's aim is to change the narrative about refugees in America - not simply by arguing against the negative stigmas placed on refugees, but by showcasing the many ways our new neighbors add to our culture and communities. This positive approach is the most powerful counter to the voices of fear and rejection.
And on June 2nd, on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral, the One Journey movement swings into action, when we host the first national celebration of refugee talents, stories, and accomplishments. Learn more at www.onejourneyfestival.com.
