The Pier [version 2]
1824 Half Street SW
There's nothing to see here.
What phallic imagery?
Located in an industrial area known as Buzzard Point, this warehouse space turned mega disco was an unexpected treasure. Its remote location was a bonus in the ever-so-judgy 70s when it wasn't cool to be gay.
The same space also housed East Side, Pier 9 and Ziegfeld's Secrets. Rave reviews from the Star and the Post cemented its reputation as one of DC's most glamorous nightspots. The [allegedly] $250,000 light and sound setup didn't hurt either.
