The Norse World Tree, known as Yggdrasil in Old Norse, is the centre of Norse Pagan Cosmology, the home of all the gods, men and other beings present in their world. Based on a close reading of historical sources for the beliefs of the Viking Age Norse, this fine art illustration is packed with detail, from the runes on the leaves surrounding the trunk to the three norns and three wells at its root and the twin raven messengers of Odin flying from their perches.
This glorious, and without doubt my favourite to date depiction of Yggdrasil was very kindly drawn for me by my friend and colleague Niko Kristic. It's available in both a white and black variant on a range of apparels.
